Priyanka loves surprises, even when she knows they're coming! In fact she would rather know that she is about to be surprised than actually be surprised! Priyanka and I (Ashish) were both really excited about our future together, but I still wanted her to have the "I had no idea!" experience.
Finding the perfect ring before Priyanka was coming to Pittsburgh set up a wonderful opportunity to surprise her. I told her that we were in fact going to visit a jeweler to browse for rings, so that I could get a better idea of what she might like. Instead of going to the jeweler's, I drove her to the Andy Warhol museum where we had spent an afternoon together the first week we met. Since we were "early for the appointment at the jeweler", we entered the museum and I took her to the "Cloud Room". I was nervous that these coincidences would tip her off, but fortunately we found ourselves alone in the dreamy cloud room, where I revealed the hidden ring and proposed!
It was definitely a complete surprise for Priyanka, in fact she didn't quite understand what was happening until I explained that I had always intended on surprising her with a ring that I knew she would love! We spent the rest of the day celebrating with family and friends, topping off a great weekend and starting the long road of wedding preparations!
